B&B Contracting Group is seeking a qualified Director of Quality Assurance for our Concrete and Aggregate divisions.

The Director of Quality Assurance at B&B Contracting Group is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance programs for our concrete and aggregate divisions, ensuring we consistently produce quality products that meet customer requirements and regulatory specifications. As a champion for quality, the Director will proactively drive continuous process improvement to advance our quality processes and procedures, providing leadership, training, instruction, and mentorship to both divisions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety and Compliance:

  • Promote safety and ensure all assigned plants comply with B&B safety policies and work procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASTM, DOT, ACI, CCIL) and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the concrete lab adheres to CAN/CSA A23.1-14 standards.
  • Monitor and support quality certifications and regulations.
  • Perform internal audits and inspections.


Technical Support and Customer Engagement:

  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert, providing technical support to sales, operations, and customers.
  • Work closely with sales to review bid specifications, troubleshoot mix designs, and respond to customer inquiries.
  • Provide guidance and leadership on concrete mix designs to mixer operators.
  • Act as a liaison with customers, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Investigate customer complaints thoroughly and handle responses appropriately.


Quality Control and Process Improvement:

  • Oversee and implement quality control programs at ready mix operations.
  • Develop and grow a CCIL-certified testing laboratory.
  • Direct process improvement initiatives to meet productivity and efficiency goals.
  • Establish and measure performance standards for technical support groups.
  • Share best practices across the division to drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify improvement opportunities through data analysis and KPIs.
  • Administer quality assurance programs.
  • Visit job sites to respond to quality control issues and ensure that all standard quality control operating procedures are being followed.


Performance Management:

  • Manage the annual budget process and ensure plants meet or exceed budget goals.
  • Improve return on assets and direct capital budgets for each site.
  • Set and achieve performance standards for areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure timely monitoring and tracking of transported and delivered products and materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of received products and materials to track inventory levels.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into spreadsheets and internal databases.


Association Engagement:

  • Participate in national associations such as Concrete BC, CCIL, CSA, and their local chapters.
  • Contribute to industry discussions and stay updated on best practices.
  • Lead external communications regarding quality and environmental matters.


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license, preferably in civil engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ QA/QC management experience in a construction environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of ready mix concrete operations and industry standards (e.g., ASTM, MOTH, ACI, CCIL, CSA).
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of interacting with key contacts verbally, in writing, and electronically.
  • Well-organized and self-motivated, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work in various weather conditions and tolerate loud noises.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to job sites as needed.
