Slave Lake, Alberta - supporting Prairie OSB Divisions

We're looking for a Technical Specialist to join our largest OSB mill, located in Slave Lake, Alberta. Our Athabasca Division safely and sustainably produces forest products for customers around the world so they can build their homes and their communities. This role will also support our OSB Divisions in High Prairie, Alberta, and Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 years of experience working in Systems Administrative role with a background in use of proven technology.
  • Experience with cloud-based operations (MS Azure or Amazon AWS).
  • Certifications in or demonstrable experience of Microsoft technologies; Windows Server & Desktop, Active Directory, Azure, Virtualization, RDS, Rockwell Factory Talk, Scripting, Monitoring, Disaster Recovery etc.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, including desktops, servers, storage, mobile phones, tablets and network devices.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening and questioning skills.
  • Infrastructure support experience with mission critical networks and servers.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the forestry industry considered an asset.

In your role you will:

  • Work with stakeholder teams to provide reliable IT infrastructure in support of business unit uptime.
  • Install, configure and deploy new systems, software, products and/or enhancements to existing infrastructure throughout the enterprise.
  • Maintain and lifecycle hardware and software in the business unit.
  • Liaise with company's suppliers for prompt recovery of any major incidents or emergencies.
  • Network and Wifi support, maintenance, and installation.
  • Travel approximately once a month to support other OSB divisions.
  • Have the opportunity to be part of the on-call rotation.
