The Centre for Data Management and Visualization (CDMV) is currently recruiting for a Software Developer for a project running until September 30, 2025. This position will support the expansion and refinement of a prototype 360° toolkit to allow instructors to create immersive experiences for training. They will be working with several of NAIT's applied research centres, curriculum development teams, subject matter experts as well as other groups in Industry Solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Execution of creative and technical project deliverables in direct alignment with industrial needs using the Unity game development platform.
Closely collaborating with other technical staff within NAIT Industry Solutions.
QA/Verification and Validation testing, peer code reviews on pull requests.
Supporting other Software Developers and team members with experience and knowledge as required.
Skills & Abilities:
Experience with the Unity platform and more than one development language (C# C++, Java, PHP, Python).
Experience with source control systems (GIT, etc.).
Experience in other game development platforms such as Unreal, Frostbite, or CryEngine would be an asset, but not required.
Experience with web development (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS) or VR/AR/XR development would also be an asset, but not required.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy and integrity.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings and recommendations to diverse audiences.
Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Qualifications:
Completion of diploma or degree in Digital Media and IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar technical focus in game design, game programming, animation, visual effects, or other related field a bonus.
At least 3 years software development experience.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and MS Teams is required.
Equivalencies may be considered.
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: $31.62 - $42.17 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of stat holiday and vacation pay. (Classification - Research Technologist III).
This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
