The Opportunity

Our Diversity, Talent and Training team in Human Resources is seeking a talented Training Developer in Calgary, AB who excels in instructional design, video production, and multi-media design to create innovative, scalable and sustainable training solutions.


This position will provide broad exposure to TC Energy's business areas and provide an excellent opportunity to directly impact TC Energy's capabilities. This role requires a collaborative, detail-oriented professional who can communicate effectively with business partners and navigate complex subject matter to deliver key organizational training programs.

What you'll do

  • Partner closely with team members and business subject matter experts to understand learning needs and provide expert advice on appropriate training solutions, including learning modes and content design

  • Apply advanced instructional design principles and skills to design and develop high-quality, engaging, cohesive learning experiences that are technically accurate and align with learning outcomes

  • Demonstrate mastery of learning and multi-media tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to produce rich multi-modal learning experiences across digital-based training, videos, classroom materials and job aids

  • Utilize video production skills, including designing, pre-production planning, directing, recording, editing and publishing videos with attention to lighting, sound quality, and visual composition

  • Collaborate with Training Strategists to ensure project expectations, deliverables and budget are established, documented and communicated throughout the project life cycle

  • Coordinate and complete language translations of training material in alignment with project launches

  • Maintain meticulous attention to detail, established processes, branding, quality and safety standards for learning content

  • Navigate multiple concurrent projects with demanding timelines while maintaining the highest standards of quality and client communication

  • Support and advise on methods and tools to evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives and learning transfer

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Degree in Instructional Design, Multimedia Design, Education, Communications, or a related field

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in developing professional learning content

  • Demonstrated expertise in instructional design methodologies for adult learners, with a portfolio showcasing high-quality training solutions

  • Expert-level skills in Articulate 360, and MS Office Suite

  • Proficiency in visual design principles, video production, and/or information design and their application to learning materials

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills for managing multiple complex learning projects

  • Strong customer service, diplomacy and influencing skills to foster collaborative working relationships across diverse business groups

  • Ability to work with those who are located in different locations across the TC Energy footprint

  • Proven experience in evaluation methods to measure change and training effectiveness

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in creating learning for highly technical field operation environments

  • Demonstrated capabilities in shooting, recording, editing and exporting video content

  • Experience with digital media software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop

  • Experience creating 3D content in After Effects or CAD software

  • Knowledge of French and/or Spanish

  • Knowledge of Workday Learning and SuccessFactor LMS

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review

  • Travel to field or other business locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which may involve some overnight stays away from home

  • Have applicable travel documentation (passport) for cross border travel
