About this opportunity:

Cenovus is looking for a Senior Pipeline and Facility Licensing Technician to join its organization. Reporting to the Manager, Pipeline and Facility Licensing, this role will help to build accurate and compliant public notification documents and facility and pipeline license applications. Additionally, the successful incumbent will be in charge of reviewing and compiling audit documentation in order to meet or exceed all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be someone who is analytical, detail oriented, and enjoys working in a fast paced environment with multiple projects and deadlines.

What you'll do:

  • Prepare accurate and compliant facility and pipeline applications for new construction

  • Prepare accurate and compliant license amendment applications for existing facility and pipeline licenses

  • Prepare accurate and compliant public notification letters

  • Interpret PFDs and Plot Plans for submission compliance

  • Review and compile audit documentation to meet regulatory requirements

  • Liaise with Cenovus's Engineering, Surface Land, Construction, Production, Operations, Technical Services, Environment, and Emergency Response Departments

  • Interpret technical documents such as emission calculations, air dispersion modeling, and noise impact assessments.

  • Support multiple projects, assets, and business areas by liaising with various Cenovus departments and government bodies within Western Canada

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • 8+ years experience in the oil & gas industry (associated degree, diploma or certificate is an asset)

  • 8+ years experience with facility and pipeline licensing and associated regulatory requirements in Alberta and Saskatchewan (British Columbia, Manitoba, and Canada Energy Regulator experience is an asset)

  • Strong working knowledge of the AER's DDS and OneStop systems and the MER's IRIS system (system equivalents in other jurisdictions are an asset - Kermit, AMS, etc.)

  • Experience with Accumap, Abadata, Petrinex, SharePoint, Spotfire, and Power BI is an asset

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Organized and effectively prioritizes tasks to achieve deadlines

  • Self-motivated and adaptable
