YOUR OPPORTUNITY

As the Senior Director of the IT Project Management Office (IT PMO), you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our internal business-critical projects. This is your chance to make a significant impact by ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget, all while aligning to Stantec's overall organizational strategic plan.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to acquire and manage resources, coordinate efforts across teams and third-party contractors, and provide leadership throughout the entire project lifecycle. You will be at the forefront of developing and enhancing enterprise-wide project processes, offering thought leadership, and ensuring compliance with our policies and procedures.

As the head of the IT PMO, you will lead and motivate a team of talented Project Managers while working closely with both the VP Enterprise Software Solutions and VP Infrastructure & Operations to assign project managers to manage IT enterprise solution projects assigned through the Strategic Portfolio Management process. You will also provide thought leadership and project portfolio level reporting to the Chief Information & Security Officer. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and leads a group of enterprise Project Managers.

  • Ensure enterprise Project Managers are following Stantec's project management best practices.

  • Provide oversight and guidance to the IT PMO team for the effective and timely execution of projects.

  • Facilitate governance for the project portfolio and each individual project.

  • Schedule and balance team activities to meet deadlines for deliverables and meetings

  • Lead, manage and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Set key performance goals for team members and provide periodic review of team member performance using both formal and informal mechanisms; provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to team members.

  • Ensure alignment to the cross-departmental roadmaps, create a collective plan to manage dependencies.

  • Keep leadership informed of changes related to new and ongoing projects within the organization; resolve and/or escalate project issues in a timely fashion.

  • Deliver engaging, informative, and well-organized presentations.

  • Evaluate the IT PMO department structures for continual improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of the group, as well as ensuring team members have access to professional and personal growth within the organization.

  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as, meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrate respect for others.

  • Regularly reviews and evaluates opportunities to improve the project management best practices in order to achieve higher maturity in project portfolio management (PPM).

  • Ensure strategic alignment through prioritization, resource capacity management, key result tracking and program management to achieve strategic vision.

YOUR CAPABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS

  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale, complex cross functional and enterprise projects.

  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.

  • Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills.

  • Ability to influence and drive change within the organization.

  • Strong business acumen, including industry, domain-specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units.

  • Knowledge of financial management and budgeting principles.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 to 7 years in a leadership role.

  • PMP or similar project management certification is preferred.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • Lower Mainland $149,600 - Lower Mainland $231,800 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
