The Opportunity
The SAP Systems as part of Project Systems team oversees the enhancements and business process around SAP Project systems (PS), Portfolio & Project Management (PPM), Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) modules; and provide support to project teams across TC Energy who are responsible for developing, planning, execution, and close-out of all project levels. It also responsible of the governance of SAP Project data and provide governance requirements through standardized processes, monitoring, and tracking.
Reporting to the Manager, SAP Systems, the SAP Project Systems & Data Integration Specialist will support the implementation and sustainment of the SAP PS platform as well as the governance of SAP Project data. The successful candidate will be a super user of the software and will provide training and support to the Business Units and users. In addition, the role requires experience in data engineering with capabilities to transform raw data into useful data systems. Collaborating with the IS team, the Specialist will ensure alignment and consistency across decisions and robust implementation of initiatives we undertake.
What you'll do
Assess and model business processes to align SAP Project Systems (PS) technology to business requirements
Act as the technical expert within the Project Systems team, ensuring quick turnaround in identifying application issues and providing timely solutions.
Collaborate with IS team to translate user requirements / processes into SAP PS process and configuration
Super-user of the SAP PS tool supporting the creation and delivery of training to new/existing users
Support, document and execute unit tests, systems, integration and acceptance tests and testing tools for functions of high complexity.
Engage other IS technical team members in the design, delivery, deployment of solutions as well as trouble-shoot and resolve issues
Coordinate, prepare content, and strategize use of the platform within the Business Units
Collaborate with data scientists and architects on several projects
Demonstrates familiarity and expertise in working with industry-leading technologies and platforms, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) offerings such as S3, Glue and Athena, as well as proficiency in Python, Microsoft Power BI and SAP systems.
Analyze, combine and organize raw data; and explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
Build data systems and pipelines; and prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modeling
Be an integral part of SAP S/4HANA implementation.
Minimum Qualifications
Successful completion of an undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
6 years' experience, with significant expertise and strong hands-on configuration experience in SAP Project Systems module related experience in this space
Experience designing, building, and maintaining data processing systems
Proven ability using communication skills to work with the business and to design business processes into SAP
Experience with SAP PS & PPM integration across other modules such Plant Maintenance (PM), Material Management (MM) & Finance & Controlling (FICO)
Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. JavaScript and Python)
Hands-on experience with SQL database design
Strong planning, project management and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task under high pressure situations with competing priorities and a sense of urgency
Expert abilities in Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI
Ability to collaborate with diverse groups of individuals
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with relevant systems and tools such as SAP S/4HANA EPPM
Technical expertise with data models, data engineering, and segmentation techniques
Ability to apply critical thinking to work through problems, addressing application use and how it applies and supports governance and process across multiple Business Units and users with varying demands and requirements
Experience within the oil and gas / pipeline industry.
