ABOUT THE ROLE

The IT Service Management team at TransAlta is seeking an experienced and collaborative ServiceNow Product Owner (PO) to join our highly skilled team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of foundational components of ServiceNow such as Configuration Management Database (CMDB), Service Catalog, and Knowledge Management, in addition to workflow applications including IT Service Management (ITSM), IT Operations Management (ITOM), and IT Asset Management (ITAM). They have developed strong business analysis skills and possess a natural aptitude for engaging with people. Experience adapting project requirements into an Agile delivery would be an asset.

This is role is based in our new head office in Downtown Calgary.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Collaborate with Business Relationship Managers (BRMs), key stakeholders, project leads, and IT leads to understand business objectives and translate them into ServiceNow delivery initiatives

  • Develop and maintain a ServiceNow Platform strategy and roadmap in alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices

  • Capture, refine, prioritize, and collaborate on feature design

  • Deliver Agile Sprint retrospectives, ensuring business value delivered meets stakeholder expectations

  • Stay current on ServiceNow product advancements and roadmaps

  • Balance the implementation of new capabilities with prudent stewardship and technical debt management

  • Take a business value-focused approach to backlog prioritization

  • Produce and standardize IT reports and dashboards

  • Develop and mature platform governance and standards

  • Liaise between technical teams and business stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and understanding

  • Collaborate with the Change Manager to implement strategies that ensure smooth adoption of new features and processes

  • Provide training and documentation to optimize platform utilization

  • Identify areas for continuous improvement through feedback, KPI, and metric reporting

  • Evaluate and recommend ways to optimize the usage of entitled capabilities

  • Evaluate and recommend third-party applications and integrations.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

To be successful in this role, we are looking for the following must-have qualifications and experience:

  • 5+ years experience as a ServiceNow Product Owner or Technical Business Analyst focused on ITSM and ITOM

  • Strong understanding of ITIL Framework as well as business analysis frameworks

  • Superior communication skills

  • ServiceNow certification such as Certified System Administrator (CSA) or Certified Implementation Specialist preferred

  • Experience with Agile methodologies
