You possess excellent communication and project management skills, and are able to achieve desired goals within timelines and budget.
You are great at producing engaging, transferable experiences that reflect real-world needs and relevant workplace skills for the 21st century. You can conduct needs assessment, program design, curriculum review, competency mapping, and quality assurance. You understand a range of delivery styles (e.g. in person, online, blended), and are comfortable working with a diverse cross-functional team, including product managers, industry partners, subject matter experts, and staff.

The Role
Learning Experience Design / Instructional Design
Apply and stay current with research, trends, theories, methodologies, technologies, and best practices in learning design, adult education, and pedagogy to create relevant and impactful educational products for online, virtual, blended, hybrid, and in-person (classroom) delivery.
Analyze educational needs, program scope, audience. Conduct needs assessment, gap analysis, competency/curriculum mapping, program and learning design.
Collaborate with subject matter experts, product managers, and delivery partners.
Create storyboards, curate content, design and update high-quality educational materials and resources.
Produce interactive and immersive learning experiences, incorporate dynamic technologies and digital media, and leverage a range of AI tools.
Employ a variety of strategies to create applied and experiential learning activities, assessments, and projects, including storytelling, gamification, social learning, scenario-based learning, simulations, and capstone projects.
Integrate principles and guidelines for accessibility, diversity, and inclusion to ensure that all learners, regardless of their background, abilities, or experiences, can fully engage with and benefit from the educational experience (e.g., Universal Design for Learning, UDL)
Support curriculum review, alignment, quality assurance, iteration, maintenance, and continuous improvement for a diverse range of products and audiences.
Essential skills to thrive in this role: creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, communication (listening, speaking, writing, editing), and project management. Ask great questions, seek solutions and workarounds, paint a clear vision, pay attention to important details, and formulate solid recommendations based on experience and best practice.
Strong skills in graphic, information, and UX design are an asset.
Project Management and Leadership
Apply excellent project management, time management, and organizational skills to plan, design, develop, and evaluate learning products, on time and within budget. Able to work in an environment with competing demands, changing requirements and deadlines while managing multiple, diverse projects simultaneously.
Manage and coordinate multiple projects with different deliverables and timelines simultaneously. Ensure timely completion of assignments to achieve desired goals.
Create and/or use project and curriculum management and tracking systems to maintain the quality and integrity of non-credit curriculum assets and projects.
Collect, model, and share best practices with colleagues, SMEs, and collaborators.
Exhibit a growth mindset; demonstrate a passion for continuous learning and developing professionally, formally or informally. Contribute to a wider learning Community of Practice and team success.
Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement
Apply and ensure compliance with quality assurance and continuous improvement frameworks, standards, and processes, including applicable accreditation and credentialing standards, industry requirements, style guidelines, templates, accessibility, usability, file/folder management and conventions, and SAIT's copyright policy and guidelines
Work with the Manager, team, and staff to communicate and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, in alignment with QA processes, expectations, and requirements.
Provide insights and recommendations to support continuous improvement and QA standards, frameworks, and initiatives, including best practices and principles learning design.
Communication, Collaboration, Teamwork
Demonstrate excellent teamwork skills and contribute positively and constructively to a team environment. Collaborate professionally and effectively with others, including project sponsors, subject matter experts, project team, writer/editor, project coordinator, digital media specialists, LMS admin, and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications
Expert knowledge of instructional design and learning theory, methodologies, and principles.
Able to organize and manage diverse projects simultaneously.
Strong digital technology and computer skills, including above average working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
Strong attention to detail. Knowledge and skills required to present theoretical and technical content clearly and simply.
Able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Excellent research, organizational, and oral and written communication skills.
Effective time management and creative problem-solving skills.
Flexible, adaptable, and able to remain positive when dealing with challenging or changing projects, workload, requests, and priorities.
Strong writing and editing skills.
Experience developing online and digital media content and using Brightspace /D2L (LMS), Articulate 360, and other software is preferred.
Advanced or expert working knowledge of Microsoft Word (formatting, styles, templates, etc.) is preferred.
Experience designing educational products for diverse subjects, audiences, and reading/language levels is preferred.
Visual communication, graphic design, and media production skills is preferred.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree (required)
5 years' experience as a learning designer or instructional designer, creating exceptional learning products and experiences for diverse audiences, subjects, contexts, and professional fields, including in-person, virtual (synch), online asynchronous, and blended or hybrid delivery.
Proven expertise and experience in adult education, learning theory and design, pedagogy, and e-learning principles, methodologies, and best practices.
Experience developing learning experiences and related content and materials for in-person (classroom), online, virtual (synchronous), and blended or hybrid learning.
Master's Degree or higher in Education, Instructional, Design, Learning Design, e-Learning, Digital Media Design, Communication, or related field is preferred.
Professional certification or credential in instructional design or learning experience design is preferred.
5 or more years' experience as an instructional designer working on a wide range of projects, including large and complex development, renewal, customization, or learning and development projects with multiple subject experts and team members is preferred.
2 or more years' experience supporting educational product development in a post-secondary environment is preferred.
