As the IT Program Manager for the Robotics Process Automation (RPA) team in Emerging Technologies, you will be reporting to the Senior Engineer. You will be accountable for executing the strategic direction, development of continuous improvement processes, operations and support, coordination across the organization, and implementation of key program service objectives. Primary duties include:

  • Oversee implementation of strategic IT program focus areas and lead the program team in project development, risks, and issues management to achieve milestones and deliverables on a day-to-day basis.
  • Provide guidance on technical services and business services to achieve business outcomes with knowledge of the RPA as a best practice.
  • Collaborate with RPA team, IT Operations, IT Client Solutions, IT Application Support and end users to build continuous improvement with new approaches, optimization of resources using automation technology and the larger ecosystem of vendors.
  • Work closely with IT Technology delivery ecosystem to achieve business outcomes in a timely manner.
  • Analyzes data to measure performance outcomes, business risks and costs related to RPA business practices and help influence strategic direction.
  • Provides technical guidance on best practices for the team.
  • Ability to rapidly demonstrate, prototype or mockup ideas with the tool chains.
  • Conduct research, apply insights and changes in the industry trends as part of the service ecosystem.
  • Oversee program management including scheduling, budget, scope, risks, issues, and deliverables.
  • Provide leadership to direct reports including recruitment, hiring, performance management, and recognition.
  • Lead and/or participate in respective areas of strategic planning sessions and provide strategic direction and oversight on the implementation of the program.
  • Develop and foster positive relationships with clients, direct reports, colleagues, senior management, partners, vendors and external organizations, academia and industry peers.

Qualifications 

  • A degree in Computer Science, Computer or Software Engineering and at least 8 years of RPA related experience from a Canadian Accredited Post Secondary Institution or equivalency; OR
  • A master's degree related to applied technology software development and at least 4 years of RPA related 
  • Experience in software development lifecycle, agile scrum methods, CI/CD pipelines, version management, Azure administration and software development and lifecycle is required.
  • Proven experience in an RPA ecosystem using one or more tools: Power Automate, Blue Prism and User Interface (UI) Path is required.
  • Experience with JavaScript, Python, C# languages, Infrastructure as code in Azure, and AI Agents & AI integration strategies for RPA in an Azure environment will be considered assets.
  • Knowledge of reusing software patterns including APIs and understanding of cyber security best practices and integrated risk management.
  • Success in this position requires strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills. You will have well developed political acumen and leadership skills.

Workstyle: This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Compensation: Level F $96,522 - 147,834 per annum

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day

work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
