The division centralizes and supports industry clients to develop customized non-credit corporate training for their employees and take their innovative product and process ideas to market locally, nationally and internationally. Within CDARI sits a number of support functions including Business Operations, Continuing Education, International, Corporate Training, Applied Research, and Business Intelligence.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Business Solutions Architect, the Business Analyst - Systems combines the skills of a Business Analyst and a Solution Developer to improve internal operations and processes. The Business Analyst works closely with team members to understand business and client requirements, translate these into technical specifications, and implement processes to meet those needs. The Business Analyst - Systems will monitor, recommend, implement, and troubleshoot solutions for software and applications, and business systems within CDARI. All clients are internal to SAIT.
Design, test, implement, modify, and troubleshoot new and existing solutions to meet business needs with assistance from Solutions Architect and developers.

The Role

    • Work with stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate these into functional business requirements and technical specifications.
    • Design, test, implement, modify, and troubleshoot new and existing to meet business needs with assistance from Solutions Architect and developers.
    • Be a super user and administrator for Smartsheet.
    • Maintain expertise in the core functionality of the CDARI technology, and the application architecture. The key system for this position is Smartsheet. Additional main systems and tools are Lifelong Learning, Salesforce, SharePoint, SQL Server, Python, Jira, and Windows.
    • Use data analysis tools to collect data, analyze data, gather insights, support decision-making, and help design and testing.
    • Create and maintain detailed documentation of solutions and processes including technical and user facing documentation.
    • Train users on new systems and provide ongoing support and troubleshooting.
    • Work jointly with end-users to identify system inefficiencies.
    • Provide application support in Salesforce, PandaDoc, Smartsheet, Destiny One, Banner, and VAS end users and resolve system and/or user errors.
    • Scope requirements and complete cost benefit analysis for business owner consideration in decision making.
    • Apply configuration changes to systems for CDARI.
    • Work with the Business Services and ITS on requests for data loads and customization requirements.
    • Understand and communicate technical issues related to defects and enhancements in applications
    • Ensures a consistent approach and drives continuous improvements in processes.
    • Coordinate all refreshes for CDARI system environments.
    • Coordinate with Service Providers in regards to the design, implementation, and operation of services to ensure seamless provision of CDARI information and services.
    • Create and update functional specifications, completing quality assurance, preparing workplans, and coordinating with multiple departments for design testing and deployment.
    • Conduct thorough UAT integration and regression testing of the application.
    • Ensure correct business functionality, requirements and standards are followed in developing business process solutions, training, and troubleshooting.
    • Complete assigned analysis, consulting, design and programming projects/tasks within established guidelines and timelines including appropriate testing and documentation.
    • Track progress of new and updated processes, ensuring identified changes of both technical and operational requirements are documented and implemented.
    • Participate in project teams in the delivery of system enhancements.
    • Assist with task estimates and timelines as part of project planning.
    • Provide analytical support and assistance to users on matters relating to technology, new application ideas or existing applications for CDARI.
    • Manage security administration and maintenance through coordinating amendments, additions and deletions.
    • Serve as a resource on the application and functionality of the CDARI technology with regards to compliance with feasibility of proposed changes to collective agreements, terms and conditions of employment, administrative regulations, legislation, and HR methodologies.
    • Works with the business to enforce and maintain a standard and best practice in all applications.
    • Performs other related responsibilities as assigned to meet the purpose and accountabilities of the role.

Qualifications

    • University Degree with 3 years' experience supporting an Enterprise application or a certificate in Business Analysis with 5 years' experience supporting an Enterprise application. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
    • Experience with setup configuration and execution, including implementation, design and customization.
    • Experience with continuous improvement or other project management initiatives; considered an asset.
    • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project and Visio).
    • Experience working in a large, complex organization; considered an asset.
    • An equivalent combination of directly related education and directly related experience will be considered.

Skills and Competencies

    • Excellent business analyst skills.
    • Advanced Smartsheet experience is a benefit.
    • Communication/Negotiation and Influencing skills: Excellence in communication, including writing, presenting and active listening skills. Strong negotiation skills with hands on experience/involvement in implementing changes in process. Comfortable dealing with confrontation and diffusing conflict without alienating others.
    • Customer Service Orientation: Results driven, while being aware of and responsive to client needs and requests. Ability to manage expectations, prioritize work requests and communicate effectively.
    • Technical Competence: Extensive knowledge of Microsoft software applications and familiarity with functionality and operations of PeopleSoft or other full service HRMS technologies. Ability to plan and report data information using in effective ways to meet customer requests.
    • Effective cross functional teamwork: Ability to achieve progress and results related to strategic initiatives and continuous improvement. Able to partner with senior organization leaders with the capacity to lead cross functional solutions.
    • Analytical Competence: Strength in data analysis with attention to detail, statistical or quantitative methods. Strong problem solving and systematic thinking skills.
    • Quality of judgment: Contribute to the achievement of strategic outcomes as they relate to the CDARI Division goals and the service unit or department. Decisions or recommendations reflect a balance of high professional standards, best practice, and understanding of unique SAIT staging requirements.
    • Professional currency: Stays up to date in field and is able to apply innovative solutions as appropriate.
    • Project Management Skills: Strong focus on delivery of results and management of work.
    • Personal suitability.
