We are seeking a qualified Analyst or Senior Analyst to support and expand forecasting and analytical activities within our Grid Analytics (GA) team. GA is a cross-functional team that is responsible for analytics of the transmission system, forecasting support, and performing data-intensive engineering studies that focus on the interaction between the electricity market and the transmission system, including congestion and capability assessments.
This position is a great opportunity if you are a data and electricity industry enthusiast interested in advancing the AESO's ability to analyze the transmission system. It plays an essential role in executing and advancing predictive analytics methodology, tools, and applications to enhance Grid Reliability practices and inform decision-making.

Your main accountabilities:
Support the development of load and generation dispatches for deterministic engineering studies.
Support the continuous improvement of power market simulation models, collaborating across teams to identify and implement enhancements.
Develop data analytics to provide actionable, timely, and accurate data and analytics to drive business insights.
Work cross-functionally to evaluate current processes and research, develop, and execute plans to enhance, optimize, streamline, and innovate analytical tools and procedures.
Prototype innovative solutions to advance methodology and tools in forecasting and modelling of the electricity market.
Represent analytics subject matter expertise in cross-departmental initiatives, supporting connections, system, and operations studies with generation and load forecasting, data visualization, and other analytics tools.
You have:
A degree or equivalent education, training or experience in statistics, math, computer science, economics, engineering, or a closely related field.
5 + years' experience in performing statistical analysis techniques.
Power system experience or education.
Strong programming skills in process automation, analytics, and data pipelines with Python.
Working knowledge of data querying, maintenance, and use of databases (SQL server, Oracle).
Experience working with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
Previous market simulation modelling experience (Aurora, Uplan, or Plexos) is not required, but would be a key asset.
