At SMS Equipment, our Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for project planning, execution, and delivery of one or more projects, including projects that vary in complexity and may include application, infrastructure, or business intelligence projects within the overall IT project portfolio. The Senior IT Project Manager will build and manage project teams ensuring quality control and maximum performance throughout the project lifecycle. This position is in Acheson, AB.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement.

The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $130,000. Salary may vary depending on education and experience.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ownership of assigned projects from initiation through to successful completion.
  • Initiate projects following appropriate project management methodology.
  • Deliver estimations, manage, and report on project resources and budgets.
  • Provide technical and analytical guidance and work direction to project team.
  • Identify project risks and ensure strategies are in place for each to prevent negative impacts to the successful delivery of the project.
  • Assess variances from the project plans, budgets, and schedules, then develop and implement changes as necessary to ensure that the project remains within specified scope.
  • Clearly communicate expectations, progress, milestones, risks and mitigating tasks to team members, stakeholders, steering committees, and executive.
  • Develop and maintain a productive working relationship with project sponsors, stakeholders, project team members, partners, and key clients.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to team members regarding all aspects of the project so team members can perform assigned tasks effectively.
  • Ensure all project documents are safely archived following project completion.
  • Maintain appropriate professional designations and up-to-date knowledge of current information technology techniques and tools.
  • Work with the Program Management Office to continue to develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a post-secondary education in a related field paired with a minimum of 8 years related experience in a Project Management capacity. Additional qualifications include:

  • Excellent time management skills to plan, manage and deliver results within a team and independently.
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills are required.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Customer-focused approach to resolving business process related systems issues.
  • Ability to proactively identify and manage risk.
