THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Manager Information Protection and Security, the IT Security Administrator will exercise sound judgement in providing advice and guidance to the Office of the Chief Information Officer’s leadership team pertaining to IT security matters. As a senior resource of the OCIO Security team, the IT Security Administrator will be responsible for protecting University information and information technology assets against unauthorized access, modification, and destruction by proactively advising the leadership team of risks, compromises and developing situations. The IT Security Administrator’s areas of responsibility include network security; Unix/Linux and Windows Server security; web server, web application, and database security; security logging and event management; desktop, laptop and mobile device security. Duties include conducting vulnerability assessments and remediation, with particular emphasis on web application security; responding to IT security incidents; researching security trends and threats; recommending best purchases and operating procedures to continuously improve the overall security posture of the University; working with the Information Management and Protection Office and assisting University units with IT security concerns; and performing other related duties as required.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Experience (5-8 years) working in multiple areas of IT (server management, networking, application development, IT enterprise environment, etc.) with at least 3 years working in one or more areas of IT security; completion of an undergraduate degree with major coursework in computer science or science field is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. Demonstrated experience with Unix/Linux and Windows Security in an IT enterprise environment is required. The ideal candidate will possess project management, leadership and effective communication skills. ITIL Foundations training or certification would be considered an asset. Completion of SANS GIAC, CompTIASecurity+, or other vendor neutral or vendor-specific IT security certification is preferred.
SALARY $72,667 - $91,929 per annum (Management and Professional)
